Motor Vehicle Accidents

Motor vehicle accidents can result in severe neck pain, lower back pain, mid back pain, headaches, muscle injuries.

Whiplash is a neck injury caused by a sudden, forceful movement of the head, typically due to a car accident, especially rear-end collisions. The term “whiplash” comes from the way the head moves like a whip, jerking forward and then backward or vice versa. This rapid movement can strain or sprain the muscles, ligaments, and tendons in the neck, leading to pain, stiffness, and sometimes headaches, dizziness, or fatigue.

Common symptoms of whiplash include:

  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Headaches (often starting at the base of the skull)
  • Dizziness or vertigo
  • Shoulder or upper back pain
  • Reduced range of motion in the neck
  • Numbness or tingling in the arms (in more severe cases)

Treatment usually involves rest, pain management (like over-the-counter pain relievers), physical therapy, and sometimes the use of a neck brace. In more severe cases, other medical interventions may be needed. Whiplash can vary in severity, and symptoms may take a few days to appear after the injury.
